Kenn Adams began teaching, directing and performing long-form improvisation in 1989 with New York City’s Freestyle Repertory Theater, the home of Theater Sports New York. Since then, many of his theories, techniques and short-form performance games, such as The Story Spine; Sit, Stand and Kneel; and The Family Dinner have been embraced and popularized by teachers, directors and performance companies around the world. In San Francisco, he has performed, taught and directed improvisation with Lila Theater Company and the San Francisco Improv Festival. He is the author of the book, How to Improvise a Full-Length Play; The Art of Spontaneous Theater (Allworth Press, 2007).
